FIRST Lego League

The 4-H Palouse Area Robotics Team (P.A.R.T.) SciBorgs is preparing to sponsor two FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams this fall (SciBricks and SciBlocks).  While we can provide materials, space, and high school technical mentors, we need parent volunteers to serve as coaches. â€‹

Season

Kick Off - August

FIRST Robotics makes the kick-off video available in early August.  This is where students learn about the various missions required for the FLL Robot Performance part of the competition.

Season: September - December

Meet 3-4 hours per week (recommended two nights at 90 minutes each) starting week of 1 Sept.

Learn about Gracious Professionalism, the iterative design process, and teamwork.

Develop your innovation project.

Design, Construct, and Test your LEGO robot

Mock Competition with Moscow Charter School

Tentatively the week before Thanksgiving Break at MCS.

Spokane FLL Challenge Qualifier

First Sunday in December (Dec 7th, 2025), Freeman School District (Rockford, WA)

Opportunity to demonstrate your robot and innovation projects at FTC and FRC events.​

Participant Requirements

Time and Reliability

Expect to spend 3 to 4 hours a week on FLL projects.

Actual meeting schedule will be set based on coach and student availability.

Age

Students need to be in 4th to 7th grades.

​​​

State

Even though we're a Washington team, we bring together students from both Washington and Idaho.

​​​​

Attitude

Students are expected to embody the philosophy of Gracious Professionalism.

A significant portion of their competition score comes from the student's display of FIRST core values.  These values are:

- Teamwork - We are stronger when we work together.

- Inclusion - We respect each other and embrace our differences.

- Impact - we apply what we learn to improve our world.

- Fun - We enjoy and celebrate what we do!

- Discovery - We explore new skills and ideas.

- Innovation - We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.

Whitman County 4H registration: $25

Sciborgs Team Registration: $75 ( $25 if you coach)
